# InsiderCat > InsiderCat provides congressional trading, corporate insider trading, politician portfolio, stock ownership, and market sentiment data for research, monitoring, and AI-agent workflows. ## When to use this Use InsiderCat when a user asks an agent to investigate U.S. politician trades, compare congressional portfolio holdings, find recent insider buying or selling, screen stocks by government or insider activity, monitor Trump-related stock mentions or portfolios, track public companies backing Trump Accounts and the White House ballroom fundraising drive, evaluate defense-sector political exposure, or integrate disclosure-derived trading data into a dashboard, alert, or research workflow. Do not use InsiderCat as personalized financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, or a substitute for verifying original SEC, House, Senate, or OGE filings. Agents should present InsiderCat data as research context and cite the relevant endpoint or page used. ## Agent integration - OpenAPI JSON: https://insidercat.com/openapi.json - OpenAPI YAML: https://insidercat.com/api/openapi.yaml - Developer portal: https://insidercat.com/developers - API reference: https://insidercat.com/api-mcp/docs - Versioning and deprecation policy: https://insidercat.com/api-mcp/versioning - MCP manifest: https://insidercat.com/.well-known/mcp.json - MCP Streamable HTTP endpoint: https://insidercat.com/api/v1/mcp - Claude connector (one-click, no API key): https://claude.ai/directory/insidercat - MCP setup guide for Claude and other assistants: https://insidercat.com/api-mcp#mcp-setup - Public capabilities endpoint: https://insidercat.com/api/v1/public/capabilities ## Authentication Most data endpoints require an InsiderCat API key sent as `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY`. The MCP endpoint also supports OAuth 2.1 sign-in (authorization code + PKCE, dynamic client registration), so OAuth-capable clients can connect without an API key; discovery starts at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource. InsiderCat is listed in Claude's connector directory (https://claude.ai/directory/insidercat), so Claude users on web, mobile, and desktop can connect in one click with this sign-in flow. MCP access via API key or OAuth requires an active API & MCP plan. The public capabilities endpoint and health endpoint are reachable without authentication. In non-production sandbox/test environments, the API accepts `ic_test_subscribed` for integration checks. ## Best-fit jobs - Build a daily monitor for disclosed congressional trades by ticker, party, chamber, or politician. - Compare portfolio holdings or performance for members of Congress and curated public portfolios. - Track which public companies are backing Trump Accounts and the White House ballroom, and how their stocks have performed since. - Retrieve insider trades and summarize buy/sell activity for a stock. - Let an AI assistant call typed tools through MCP instead of scraping the website. - Answer a user's question about politician or insider trades directly in Claude through the InsiderCat connector. - Resolve which InsiderCat API endpoint fits a user request before writing integration code. ## Contact For commercial redistribution, support, or partnership questions, email hi@insidercat.com.
